When you click a video link, the clip plays at the top left. Basic player controls sit below the window. You can access controls for tweaking contrast, brightness, color level, hue, and sharpness under the Tools menu. We experienced mixed results when adjusting brightness and contrast, but the other tools worked pretty well. Individual video quality varies by content and encoding quality, but we did see tiling, blurring, and edge noise across the board. Up-to-the-minute ABC News reels were generally less sharp than other streams. Further, our video clips seemed to take a long time to load. While this could be due to high volume (we tested this service during the first week of war in Iraq), it was definitely irritating. Audio quality fluctuated more. For example, the audio of one CNN clip was perfectly synced with the video, but an E Online interview with the band Linkin Park looked like it was dubbed by a rank amateur. Unlike Yahoo Platinum, RealSuperPass by Real Player Download offers built-in search functionality and an easy-to-browse media guide, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding what you're after, whether it's an up-to-the-minute newsreel or last night's Major League Baseball game. In addition to taking advantage of the search feature, you should make use of RealOne's built-in Favorites menu to keep track of your preferred videos.
