RealRhapsody gives you unlimited access to the deepest catalog of legal online music in the world. Listen to over 600,000 songs on demand. Create custom playlists and radio stations. Burn mixed CDs. While we've long been fans of this service, Rhapsody by RealPlayer Download has lost a bit of ground in light of the success of Apple iTunes Music Store. iTunes's flexibility highlights Rhapsody's chief weakness, namely that it still won't let you transfer your tunes onto a portable device. However, Listen.com/Real Player Download still has Apple beat in terms of the scope of the artist information and editorial content available through Rhapsody. But the battle for your ears is far from over. Windows folks are expected to get their version of Music Store later this year, and Listen.com's deal with RealNetworks has yet to play out fully. Plus, Pressplay is in the midst of a major overhaul, fueled by its recent acquisition by Roxio. For now, if you like the music experience you're getting through Rhapsody, sit tight, but keep an eye on its competitors.
