pc Anywhere 10.0 enhanced its file transfer capability as the leading remote control solution
Long distance PC
troubleshooting saves time and money. For small and medium size businesses looking
to boost the efficiency of their technical support desks, Symantec's pc Anywhere
10.0 will be cost effective. This established remote control and file transfer
application now supports several new help desk features from fast access to
a faraway PC's Registry to a task manager that avoids opening up a Windows remote
session. Installation of pc Anywhere 10.0 takes less than 10 minutes and includes
an alternate option to load fewer program features. The program now features
a Windows XP-ish look, with a navigational frame on the left that lists the
actions you can take, such as starting up a host session or adding a new connection,
as well as new features such as a suite of remote control and file transfer
utilities.
Opening the
app for the first time, you will see that pc Anywhere 10.0 got a face lift and
dropped its minimalist toolbar; the new interface is easier to operate and to
understand. Fortunately, not everything has changed. The familiar two panel
display during file transfer sessions remains, so you see the drive contents
of the machines at both ends of the connection. And you can still drag and drop
files to move them from one drive to the other. The look and feel of a remote
control session hasn't changed either.
Once a session starts, you view the other machine's desktop either in a pop up window or as a full screen. As with any other remote control application, such as GoToMyPC, pc Anywhere 10.0 lets you operate the offsite PC as if you were sitting in front of its keyboard. One new feature is that should appeal to everyone is the ability to queue batches file transfer rather than dragging and dropping each individually.
