InTouch
with your desktop Flexible Remote Access to your computer
I'm InTouch is
the new remote access and control service that allows individuals to connect
and interact with their home or office computer to access the information and
essential business tools they need from anywhere, anytime using any computer
or wireless device with an Internet connection. I'm InTouch seamlessly integrates
to your existing desktop configuration to enable remote access to your Microsoft
Outlook e-mails, attachments, calendar & contact information, PC files and
applications from ANYWHERE in the world, using any computer or wireless device
that has an Internet connection.
Virtual private
networks (VPNs) can make a mobile employee's life quite productive. For small
to medium businesses, however, a VPN can also make a big dent in available funds.
And few VPN setups in even the largest corporations can accommodate access to
one's PC from, say, a phone or RIM device. That's where affordable and effective
I'm InTouch comes in as a remote access application.
In addition to offering full remote access via a VNC (virtual network computing) client, I'm InTouch includes a collection of HTML tools that provide quick and dirty access to limited parts of a remote PC. Uniquely, it offers a tool that streams video from a machine's Webcam. But all things considered, it's just not as effective as the competition. The VNC is almost too slow to use, and the HTML tools aren't as extensive or polished as they could be.
Slower still are the VNC features. Unless you set up the VNC to make a direct peer-to-peer connection with the remote system, which involves reconfiguring your router and firewall, you won't want to use I'm InTouch for full remote access except in an emergency.
